A supplement to the fiftieth edition of the Madrid-based Spanish journal "Cuadernos del Matematica" contained poems by the Mongolian poet G.Mend-Ooyo. One of the leading poets writing in Spanish today, Justo Jorge Padrón, translated twenty of Mend-Ooyo's poems and wrote an essay about his work, and so introduced Mongolian poetry to the journal's readers.

In this supplement, "A Thousand Years of Mongolian Poetry," Padrón introduces Mend-Ooyo and his work in the following way: "Until now, Spanish-speaking readers have not known about Mongolian poetry. This is not only because the two countries are geographically far from one another, but because there has not existed a link between them, and because it is hard to learn Mongolian. On the other hand, Mongolia has been shut away from the outside world and, while writers have spoken about historical links, they have made brief sketches for their readers about its script culture, and the development, suppression and revival of its literature. In the list of the few world-quality poets who are the children of nomadic herders, the contribution of Gombojavin Mend-Ooyo is of immense significance."
